buon cibo
Branded and packaged an infused olive oil and vinegar company that simplifies cooking for those with less experience.
Buon Cibo sells high-end, flavored, artisanal olive oils and vinegars to young adults who don't have much experience with cooking but are looking for an easy way to spice things up. The design focuses on the flavors in more playful way than most olive oils and vinegars, setting it apart from competitors. The box is made from 100% recycled materials, contains three flavors (two olive oils, one vinegar), and is meant to be purchased in a store and given as a nice gift.
ROLE: Product design, naming, branding, packaging, photography.
Process
In the early stages of the label development, it took some time to feel out what to include, spacing/sizing, and the style of iconography. I determined that color should be capitalized on, in order to make the product stand out on the shelf and appeal to a younger audience.
The next step in the process was establishing what the multi-pack would be packaged in. To align with the brand values of fun and convenience, I set out to design a box-bag, so that customers would walk right out of the store without having to worry about using an additional bag at checkout.
After revising the labels further, I determined that the box needed to be different in style/color than the labels, so I chose to use black on a recycled paper material to incorporate a more sustainable solution and give it an artisanal quality. The laser cut-outs were too much visual weight near the bottom, and I decided it was not necessary to see the bottles from outside the box-bag.
Solution
It's easy to envision this in a whole foods or at home & kitchen shop. The brand message and design really speak to the target market by providing an easy solution to their problem. Purchasing the set invites people to participate in the fun of cooking, stress-free.
