get out and try
Created a website for people to discover new things and places to try throughout the Saint Croix Valley community.
GetOutAndTry® provides an all-in-one, user-centered search tool for finding events, businesses and destinations in the Saint Croix Valley area. It is a resource that can also inspire people to make more meaning in their lives: to break out of their comfort zones and try new things, build their confidence, meet new people, and strengthen their community. The design team focused on creating an easy to use site targeted towards busy moms and single, women in their 40's. We created a mobile-friendly site, print collateral, and branded apparel to help kick-start this movement.
ROLE: UI/UX, branding/collateral, product design, marketing, and illustration.
Logo Process
The client wanted the logo to communicate fun, adventure, community, inspiration, discovering, navigating and trying. Other goals for the logo were to allow for flexibility to expand to other areas of the U.S., look great on apparel, and prompt inquiries. I started by going off of some of the client's initial ideas and working in some of my own. She determined that we shouldn't use the acronym "goat" because it's association may limit branding efforts in other areas, and also distracts from the core message of the brand.
After a lot of revision, we landed on a compass emblem to really emphasize the fun and function of the website. The color palette reflects outdoor fun and works well with different seasons. A secondary logotype was created based on the primary emblem.
Website
I was added to the team responsible for creating a website for consumers and businesses to easily find the hidden gems of the Saint Croix Valley. Up until this point, there hasn't been a resource that features all of the best things to do (large and small). As the sole UI designer on the project, I was given the initial wireframes and tasked with branding the business to get things started.
Once they have selected their date range, users can use filters for their event search such as: type, amenities, admittance, ages and time of day. After clicking one of the event cards, and pop-up appears with more information and photos for the event. We really wanted a search via map function to provide our users with an easy way to see where events are happening. Along with this, I created a custom map marker by adapting elements from the logo.
